Over the past two years, these initiatives have successfully removed over 600 firearms from circulation, underscoring the community’s commitment to safety and peace.
Staff from the Archdiocese are currently finalizing logistics for the event, which runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Fr. Mike Murphy, a prominent figure in local efforts against gun violence, emphasizes that while gun buybacks are not a complete solution, they contribute to saving lives and fostering a culture of peace. The initiative has garnered over $100,000 in donations to support both the buyback program and the Archdiocese’s Grief Ministry for families affected by homicide.
