Michigan House Proposes Ban on Ghost Guns

Michigan House Democrats introduce a legislative package to ban “ghost guns,” firearms that lack serial numbers and are often assembled from kits or 3D printed. Under the proposed bills, current ghost gun owners would have 18 months to get their weapons serialized, while future builders would be required to serialize their firearms within ten days of completion, pushing public safety to the forefront of the debate.

State Rep. Morgan Foreman emphasizes that these measures target weapons designed for evasion from law enforcement, arguing that “no one needs an untraceable ghost gun.” However, with Republican control in the House, passing the bills might prove challenging, as critics advocate for enforcing existing laws rather than adding new restrictions. The implications of this legislation could reshape gun ownership in Michigan, making it crucial for constituents to stay informed.
