Authorities in Oakland have identified 30-year-old Daesjhon Grayson as the man fatally shot on Mother’s Day, nearly three hours after a separate homicide occurred in the area. Grayson was discovered on 16th Street just before midnight, reportedly reaching into his backpack when he was struck by gunfire; inside the bag was a handgun equipped with an extended magazine.
Investigators have not yet filed charges in the case, but they have identified a potential suspect—a resident from the same shelter as Grayson—who was found nearby with visible injuries and claimed to have been in a confrontation with the victim. Meanwhile, police are also looking into an unrelated shooting that took the life of a 19-year-old earlier that day, emphasizing the ongoing investigations into both incidents and urging witnesses to come forward with information.
