Body Cam Footage Released of Police Shooting in Malta

Body camera footage from four State Troopers is released, capturing the moments leading up to the fatal shooting of 69-year-old David Levine, who opened fire at the Malta State Police barracks on April 9. In the footage, troopers can be heard commanding Levine to drop his weapon, a situation that escalates rapidly as he reportedly refuses and threatens police before officers return fire.

The released videos, ranging from a minute and a half to over three and a half minutes, provide crucial context to the incident as troopers navigate the tense confrontation. New York Attorney General Letitia James has made the footage public as part of standard investigative protocol in officer-involved shootings. As the Office of Special Investigations continues to probe the incident, additional details and footage will be showcased on NewsChannel 13’s upcoming broadcast.
