TSA officers at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport have seized two loaded handguns from carry-on bags during routine screening, raising important safety concerns as the summer travel season kicks off. In just the first part of 2025, TSA has already intercepted a total of 22 firearms at the airport’s checkpoints, a significant rise compared to 52 seized over the entire previous year.
Marking a stringent reminder to travelers, TSA’s Federal Security Director for Minnesota, Marty Robinson, emphasizes the need for responsible packing and adherence to regulations concerning firearm transport. Passengers are permitted to travel with firearms only in checked baggage, properly secured, and must check state-specific laws to avoid severe penalties, including a possible loss of TSA PreCheck® eligibility for at least five years for offenders.
