The Savannah Impact Program (SIP) hosts the “End the Cycle, Stop Gun Violence” event today, coinciding with National Gun Violence Awareness Day. This initiative aims to educate the community about gun laws and promote a safer environment amid 12 reported homicides in Savannah this year, a slight decrease from last year.
SIP’s program coordinator, LaToyia Daniels, shares a personal connection to the cause, having experienced the grief of losing a youth she worked with to gun violence. Attendees will have the opportunity to interact with local law enforcement, as SIP partners with the Savannah Police Department to foster trust and encourage community dialogue. The event takes place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 2005 Waters Avenue, featuring 15 vendors and a call for attendees to wear orange in solidarity.
