One person is dead following a police shooting outside the nonprofit A Precious Child in Broomfield, an incident that began with a 911 call reporting a man threatening self-harm. Officers reached the scene around 9:08 a.m. and engaged in over three hours of negotiations with the man, who was reportedly armed, before the situation escalated just before 1 p.m., leading to the shooting involving multiple officers.
Authorities have not yet disclosed what triggered the officers to fire their weapons, as the investigation is ongoing. The man’s identity and the circumstances surrounding his potential connection to the nonprofit remain under investigation. A Precious Child, which provides essential resources to children in need, was placed in a “secure mode” during the incident, ensuring the safety of those inside, including seven children who were evacuated safely.
