CSRA Communities Unite in Orange Against Gun Violence

On Friday, communities across the Central Savannah River Area (CSRA) come together to raise awareness about gun violence by wearing orange, a color symbolizing the movement. Events include gatherings in Waynesboro with mayors, children, and local leaders, highlighting the rise in teen violence during summer months and calling for unity to end the scourge of gun violence.

Notably, Phyllis Jackson, a local activist and gun violence survivor, joins the movement after losing her son in 2019. As part of a larger effort that includes organizations like “Moms Demand Action” and “Georgia Shift,” community members gather at the Jessye Norman Amphitheater in Augusta to honor victims and advocate for change. The continuing dialogue on violence also encompasses other local tragedies, making this event a crucial moment for awareness and action.
