AGs from MD, NJ, and DE Update on Federal Firearm Cases

The attorneys general for Maryland, New Jersey, and Delaware are set to provide a crucial update on their legal strategies against the Trump administration’s recent settlement allowing the sale of devices that convert semi-automatic weapons into machine guns. This development follows a Supreme Court ruling that upheld Maryland’s authority in firearm regulations, highlighting ongoing tensions over gun control legislation.

In their coordinated effort, the attorneys general aim to secure a preliminary injunction to prevent the widespread redistribution of these dangerous devices, which have been linked to increasing gun violence. Notably, this lawsuit arises after an agreement was reached between the Trump administration and Rare Breed Triggers, a manufacturer of forced reset triggers—a product the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives had previously classified as machine guns due to their firing capabilities.
