Delaware AG Sues Trump Administration Over Gun Devices

Delaware Attorney General Kathy Jennings has announced a lawsuit against the Trump Administration in response to plans to distribute thousands of controversial machine gun conversion devices, known as Forced Reset Triggers (FRTs), across the United States. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) reportedly signed a settlement agreement that would stop federal enforcement against these devices, which allow even inexperienced shooters to utilize firepower comparable to military-grade weapons.

FRTs have been implicated in a significant rise in violent crimes and mass shootings, compounding the gun violence crisis in the U.S. The ATF noted a staggering 1,400% increase in incidents involving machine-gun fire from 2019 to 2021, raising alarms about public safety as firearms equipped with these devices can fire up to 20 rounds per second. Jennings aims to prevent the imminent redistribution of FRTs, asserting their illegality under federal law.
