D.C. Candidate Disrupts Proud Boys’ Lawsuit Announcement

A press conference announcing a $100 million lawsuit by former Proud Boys leader Enrique Tarrio was disrupted by D.C. Council candidate Patricia Eguino, who screamed “traitor” into a megaphone. The lawsuit alleges that the prosecution of Tarrio and four other Proud Boys members for their roles in the January 6 Capitol Riot was politically motivated and constituted a violation of their constitutional rights.

As Eguino approached the gathering at Lafayette Square, she utilized a loud siren and chants that drowned out the proceedings, forcing Tarrio and his attorney to end the event prematurely. The lawsuit seeks restitution for what the plaintiffs claim to be systemic abuse of the legal system by federal authorities, and its implications could add further controversy to an already polarizing legal case.
