Army Celebrates 250 Years with Major Weeklong Festivities

The U.S. Army kicks off a weeklong celebration in Washington, D.C., to commemorate its 250th birthday, first established on June 14, 1775. On Saturday, Marking the occasion with an anticipated parade, officials expect around 200,000 attendees who will have the opportunity to engage directly with soldiers and view a variety of military vehicles, including M1A2 Abrams tanks and Bradley Fighting Vehicles.

The festivities, which include a wreath-laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and a concert followed by fireworks, promise to showcase the Army’s rich history and modern capabilities.
