Utah’s Wildlife Board has approved significant updates to regulations governing wildlife management area access and hunting guide operations following a public meeting. As a response to recent legislative changes, these updates include a new requirement for individuals 18 and older to hold a valid hunting, fishing, or combination license to access designated wildlife management areas in four northern Utah counties.
The board has also shifted oversight of hunting guides and outfitters to the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources, introducing annual registration certificates and field requirements for guide-client ratios. Additionally, a historic effort will support sage-grouse populations through new translocation initiatives, marking the first such relocation in Utah since 2019. These changes reflect an ongoing commitment to wildlife management and conservation in the state.
