A man is dead after a shooting incident involving Baltimore Police, which also resulted in an officer being injured on Tuesday evening. According to officials, police attempted to stop a male suspect armed with a weapon, who then led officers on a chase before a struggle ensued, during which he shot an officer in the foot. The man was ultimately shot by police and later pronounced dead at a hospital later that night.
The injured officer, an eight-year veteran, is recovering and undergoing surgery. This incident has raised local concerns about safety, prompting calls for enhanced community initiatives as officers continue to patrol the area near the Upton Metro Station, which is now closed. The Maryland Attorney General’s Independent Investigations Division is looking into the incident and plans to release body-camera footage to the public as the investigation progresses.
