D.C. Police Seize 41 Firearms, Arrest Young Offenders

The Metropolitan Police Department of Washington, D.C., seizes 41 illegal firearms over the span of a week as part of a determined crackdown on gun violence. Notable recoveries include a Ruger P-97DC .45 caliber handgun and a “Ghost Gun,” with arrests made primarily involving young offenders aged as low as 15, signifying a troubling trend of youth participation in armed offenses.

In a series of operations from June 9 to June 16, officers arrested individuals such as 19-year-old Julian Unique and a 17-year-old male, both charged with serious firearm-related offenses. These efforts reflect the MPD’s commitment to reduce armed violence in the District, although they also reveal an alarming increase in gun-related incidents linked to younger demographics. This dynamic raises critical questions about community safety and youth involvement in illegal firearm possession.
