IMPD Arrests Two in Gun and Drug Investigation

Officials with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) have arrested two individuals, Anthony Harris and Chanita Dawson, after investigating Harris, described as a “known serious violent felon.” The police discovered three handguns, one of which was reported stolen, along with significant quantities of narcotics during a traffic stop and subsequent search of Harris’s home.

During the investigation, officers also seized a Kevlar vest, over 360 grams of suspected cocaine, 8.7 grams of fentanyl, and nearly 50 grams of marijuana. Both Harris and Dawson face preliminary charges for unlawful firearm possession, narcotic possession, and cocaine dealing, with final charges pending from the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office.
