J6 Officers Sue GOP Over Insurrection Plaque Denial

Two former police officers present at the January 6 insurrection have filed a lawsuit against House Speaker Mike Johnson and other congressional Republicans for failing to install a memorial plaque that recognizes the valor of law enforcement during the Capitol attack. The plaque, which has been relegated to a basement, is intended to honor the officers who defended democracy on that day, where over 140 officers were injured amid the riots.

The lawsuit highlights a push for accountability and acknowledgment from lawmakers who have not followed through on legislation mandating the installation of the plaque, designed to be a permanent reminder of the events of January 6, 2021. “Democracy is not guaranteed,” warns former officer Daniel Hodges, emphasizing the importance of respecting the sacrifices made by those who served on that fateful day, urging Congress to fulfill its legal obligation.
