Seven individuals have been sentenced for their role in a scheme that trafficked 240 firearms stolen from an Indianapolis shipping center. The firearms, many of which have been linked to various crimes across Indiana and beyond, were taken by employees who then recruited others to help sell them across four states, primarily for profit.
Among those sentenced, Bruce Williams received the longest term of nine years for his involvement as one of the masterminds behind the operation. Despite law enforcement’s efforts, only 61 of the stolen guns have been recovered over three years since the thefts, raising concerns about the wider implications of gun violence linked to these weapons. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives began investigating after noticing patterns of missing firearms inventory related to the shipping center.
