In response to escalating gun violence, members of Milwaukee’s senior community organized a rally on Tuesday, urging younger generations to “put the gun down.” Approximately 20 participants attended the event near the Clinton Rose Senior Center, holding signs and sharing messages aimed at discouraging gun use among youth.
Charlotte Lewis, one of the rally attendees, emphasized the importance of family discussions about violence, stating, “We have to be the ones to say, look young man, put the gun down.” This gathering is part of a broader movement in Milwaukee that seeks to address the disturbing rise in violence as summer unfolds, making it a critical point of dialogue for the community.
