DC Police Probe Holiday Weekend Shootings

Washington, D.C. police are investigating a series of shootings that left three people dead and several others injured over the Fourth of July weekend. Among the victims are a 3-year-old girl who suffered critical injuries while in a family car and a 15-year-old boy shot on July 4th in Southeast D.C. Police have not established links between the shootings and are seeking public assistance to identify suspects in at least two incidents.

Several shootings occurred at various locations, with the most notable incidents taking place on T Street and Benning Road, resulting in the deaths of two women in their twenties. These violent events during what should be a festive holiday prompt renewed calls for community engagement and cooperation with law enforcement as police work to prevent further incidents. The city’s Metropolitan Police Department encourages anyone with information to come forward.
