A 22-year-old woman from Dearborn Heights, Blake Herring, has been charged with bank robbery and assault with intent to murder after allegedly attacking a bank employee with a hatchet. The incident occurred at a PNC bank in Southfield around 12:30 PM on July 1, where Herring is accused of demanding money and striking an employee in the head before fleeing with an undisclosed amount of cash.
Police Chief Elvin Barren confirmed that Herring was seen on surveillance footage buying the hatchet shortly before the robbery, during which she also brandished a handgun. Although two incidents involving weapons near the bank occurred around the same time, investigators later determined they were unrelated. Herring’s bond is set at $2 million, and she is scheduled to appear in court on July 17. The employee struck in the assault is reportedly recovering well after hospitalization.
