Eau Claire Teen Faces Charges Over Illegal Gun Devices

A 17-year-old from Eau Claire, Jayden Cadmus, faces four felony charges after federal agents intercepted a package containing illegal “switches” designed to convert regular firearms into automatic weapons. The investigation began when authorities discovered the suspicious package, addressed to a fake name, which was traced back to Cadmus through multiple earlier shipments linked to his real identity.

When federal agents delivered the package to a residence where he was illegally staying, they found it opened with the devices visible inside. Cadmus initially claimed ignorance about the package but later displayed detailed knowledge of the website selling such items, raising suspicion about his intentions. Each felony charge could result in three years of prison time and a $5,000 fine if convicted. The case highlights ongoing concerns regarding the accessibility of dangerous firearms modifications among youth.
