A 20-year-old man from Berkeley was arrested on July 8 for allegedly carrying a ghost gun in the vicinity of Berkeley High School, raising significant safety concerns. Weeks earlier, a video posted on social media showed him with what appeared to be an AR-15-style rifle concealed in his waistband, prompting school staff to alert the police, who launched an investigation.
During a search of the suspect’s home, authorities discovered not only illegal gun components and ammunition but also an unregistered short-barrel rifle, commonly referred to as a ghost gun. The Alameda County District Attorney’s Office has since charged him with multiple felonies, underscoring the seriousness of the incident and the ongoing issues surrounding firearm regulations in the area.
