Bronx Man Indicted for Subway Slashing Incident

A 29-year-old Bronx man has been indicted on multiple felony charges, including first-degree assault, for allegedly slashing an MTA conductor in the face during an unprovoked attack last month. Isaiah Thompson is accused of using a sharp object to inflict two facial lacerations on 36-year-old conductor Lynette Pierce while she was on duty at the Whitlock Avenue subway station, an incident that was captured on surveillance video.

The attack occurred on June 10, and Pierce required eight stitches to treat her injuries at St. Barnabas Hospital. Following a warrant for his arrest, Thompson was taken into custody at his home on June 12. Bronx District Attorney Darcel D. Clark emphasized the randomness of the assault, highlighting the vulnerability of transit workers while they perform their essential duties. Thompson’s arraignment took place in Bronx Supreme Court, with a scheduled return date of August 21.
