A 25-year-old Silver City man, Dominic Carbajal, is facing serious federal charges following multiple violent offenses, including armed robbery and carjacking. Carbajal, a convicted felon, is accused of an armed robbery at a local nutrition store where he allegedly threatened the owner with a handgun before fleeing the scene.
In a sequence of troubling incidents, Carbajal reportedly also carjacked a victim in a parking lot, using physical force and threats to steal their vehicle and possessions. Law enforcement arrested him after a tumultuous pursuit, and if convicted on all charges, he could receive a sentence of up to 27 years in prison, spotlighting the ongoing issues of gun violence and repeat offenses in the community.
