Muscatine Men Sentenced for Drug and Gun Crimes

Juan Aldo Beltran Delgado, 34, and Isidro Barajas, Jr., 30, are sentenced to decades in federal prison for their roles in a botched drug operation that turned violent on May 29, 2024. Delgado receives a 35-year sentence while Barajas is sentenced to 32 years, both for their involvement in a scheme to distribute over 4.5 pounds of methamphetamine and for firing at law enforcement during their attempted escape from capture.

The incident escalated when Delgado led police on a high-speed chase, exceeding 100 miles per hour and running multiple red lights, before crashing into other vehicles. After the crash, both men attempted to flee on foot while armed. This case is emblematic of ongoing efforts under the Project Safe Neighborhoods initiative, which aims to reduce violent crime through united law enforcement efforts.
