The Montana Fish, Wildlife, and Parks (FWP) has charged seven individuals from Montana and Washington state for illegally killing multiple bull elk and mule deer bucks in the Bull Mountains between 2020 and 2024. An investigation was initiated following a tip about unlawful hunting activities, leading wardens to uncover that the suspects operated without the necessary permits and licenses.
In total, these individuals face 34 charges and 13 warnings, accumulating nearly $23,000 in bond and restitution. FWP wardens executed search warrants in Washington state, resulting in the seizure of 11 unlawfully killed elk and deer mounts as evidence. The Musselshell County Justice Court is currently processing these charges, with officials emphasizing the essential collaboration with various wildlife and law enforcement agencies.
