Asheville Mayor Addresses Rising Gun Violence

The mayor of Asheville, Esther Manheimer, has publicly addressed the alarming surge in gun violence following four recent incidents that have left multiple individuals injured. The most recent shooting happened on July 24, when one person was shot twice at an apartment complex, highlighting a troubling trend in the community.

In response, the Asheville Police Department is increasing their presence in affected areas and urging residents to assist in identifying suspects connected to the shootings. Manheimer emphasizes the need for community collaboration in addressing the issue, stating that “the community and residents of Asheville deserve better than to face the threat of gun violence in their neighborhoods.” This collective call to action comes at a critical time for the city as it seeks to restore safety and peace.
