Ukraine is set to strengthen its air defense forces with the delivery of TRML-4D and SPEXER 2000 3D MkIII radar systems from Germany’s Hensoldt AG, under a €340 million contract. These cutting-edge radars are designed to automatically detect and classify various aerial and ground threats, including drones and missiles, amid a surge in Russian assaults that resulted in the highest civilian casualties in three years during June 2025.
The TRML-4D radar can track up to 1,500 targets within a 250 km radius, making it crucial for Ukraine’s defense strategy. This integration into the Rheinmetall Skyranger 30 air defense system represents a significant advancement in Ukraine’s military capabilities and enhances its operational effectiveness against ongoing aggressions. These systems are also pivotal for protecting civilians, as emphasized by Hensoldt CEO Oliver Dörre.
