Akron Police are currently investigating two separate shootings that occurred just over an hour apart, leaving a 23-year-old woman and an 18-year-old man with non-life-threatening injuries. The first incident took place around 11 p.m. Saturday at Botnick Plaza, where the woman sustained gunshot wounds to the hip and leg, prompting her to be transported to Cleveland Clinic Akron General Hospital.
The second shooting happened shortly after, at approximately 12:15 a.m. Sunday on Vernon Odom Boulevard, where the male victim reported being shot in the ankle while waiting for a bus. Despite the close timing of the two events, police have stated they do not believe the incidents are connected, and no arrests have been made in either case. This developing situation raises concerns about community safety.
