Plumber Linked to Gun-Running Scheme Offers Free Bombs

Mark McCourt, a 34-year-old plumber, pleads guilty to organizing a gun-running ring that imported firearms components from the USA to Ireland. During court proceedings, it is revealed that he proposed to include ten pipe-bombs for free with a €75,000 deal to supply assault rifles and ammunition, indicating a significant level of criminal intent and operation surrounding his smuggling activities.

The court hears from Detective Inspector Shane McCartan, who expresses full confidence in the existence of a structured criminal organization under McCourt’s leadership. Evidence presented includes text messages discussing the sale and assembly of firearms, along with a stash of weapons parts and over 900 rounds of ammunition seized during a raid in Co Louth. As the case proceeds, the gravity of McCourt’s actions and the potential implications for public safety take center stage.
