Authorities arrest two men from North Philadelphia, 19-year-olds Michael Rodriguez and Khalil Jenkins, after discovering a package containing 11 illegal gun switches shipped from China. These devices, which can convert semi-automatic firearms into fully automatic weapons, were hidden in toy boxes, raising alarm amid rising gun violence concerns in the area.
During a subsequent search of their home, police also find a loaded handgun with a switch and a fully automatic rifle. With possession of such devices punishable by up to ten years in federal prison, Philadelphia’s Attorney General warns that these weapons are designed for unprecedented destruction, as seen by their increasing presence in crime scene investigations.
