Zedekiah Sykes, 58, pleads guilty to federal robbery charges related to a March armed robbery at Jim Massey Cleaners in Montgomery, where he and three accomplices forced their way in and confronted the owner. During the incident, the group used a BB gun to threaten the owner, demanding he open a safe while inflicting injuries that resulted in visible bruising.
The court records reveal that the assailants restrained the owner before fleeing in his vehicle with stolen cash and personal belongings. Sykes now faces a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison, with a sentencing hearing scheduled in the upcoming months. A co-defendant, Spencer Thomas, has also been indicted for his role in the crime.
