San Joaquin Woman Sentenced for Firearms Trafficking

Alejandra Susana Castillo, a 34-year-old woman from Tracy, California, has been sentenced to five years in federal prison for her role in an illegal firearms trafficking operation. Between August 2023 and August 2024, Castillo collaborated with a convicted felon to purchase firearms in Nevada and sell them illegally in California, circumventing laws that prevent prohibited individuals from acquiring guns. This operation reportedly involved over 30 firearms, some of which were linked to crimes shortly after their purchase.

Castillo’s sentence comes after a law enforcement investigation revealed her partner led police on a high-speed chase and Castillo was later detained with a semi-automatic rifle in her vehicle. The case, prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Adrian T. Kinsella, highlights the ongoing challenges of gun trafficking across state lines and the involvement of multiple agencies, including the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. Castillo is scheduled to report to prison on November 1, 2025.
