Levittown Man Shot by Police Linked to Armed Robbery

A Levittown man, 44-year-old John T. Mathis, is recovering from a police shooting during a road rage incident while being accused of committing an armed robbery in Philadelphia shortly before the confrontation. Mathis allegedly threatened a cellphone store employee, stealing approximately $1,000, before he brandished a gun at another driver in Bensalem, reportedly saying, “You’re lucky I don’t rob you” while displaying the firearm.

The complex case reveals a series of violent allegations against Mathis, who is now facing nearly two dozen charges, including five felonies related to the robbery and the police shooting. Investigators connected him to the robbery through surveillance images and evidence found in the aftermath of the road rage incident, thereby adding layers to a story that has captivated local authorities and the community alike.
