The Nassau County Sheriff’s Office introduces K9 Max, a one-year-old Fox Red Labrador trained in firearm detection, to bolster safety in local schools. This initiative comes as part of a collaboration with the Nassau County School District, aiming to ensure a secure environment for students and staff.
K9 Max is not only equipped to detect firearms but also to track humans and search for items, providing a multifaceted approach to school safety. Handled by School Resource Officer Brandon Griffith, who has three years of experience at Yulee Middle School, K9 Max adds a friendly presence in the schools, promoting interaction while serving an important protective role.
