Starting October 18, both Wildlife Management Areas will be closed to hunting and dog training on Tuesdays and Fridays until the season ends on December 31, allowing for safer restocking of pheasants and habitat maintenance.
This change aligns with regulations at other Region 8 WMAs, emphasizing a commitment to preserving the pheasant hunting tradition in New York State. The Tuesday and Friday closures are set to continue in future seasons, representing a significant shift for hunters who can utilize the DEC’s online Pheasant Stocking Mapper to find stocking locations.
