Three Evansville Felons Sentenced for Gun Possession

Three felons from Evansville, Indiana, have been sentenced to significant prison time for illegally possessing firearms, with sentences ranging up to 15 years. Codey M. Ritchison, 34, leads the trio with a sentence of over nine years, after evading police and dropping a loaded pistol during his arrest. Randy Dale Ricketts Jr., 43, received a 15-year sentence linked to a gun with an obliterated serial number, while Destin Jay Svestka, 28, was sentenced to over 13 years following a high-speed chase that ended with him discarding a loaded pistol into a river.

The U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Indiana, Tom Wheeler, emphasized the danger these individuals pose, outlining their violent criminal histories and the serious nature of their offenses. These cases underline ongoing concerns regarding firearm-related violence, prompting investigations by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and local police. Authorities are urging community awareness as they combat the issue of guns in the hands of those prohibited from possessing them.
