Authorities in Baton Rouge recently conducted two operations leading to the seizure of nearly 2 pounds of fentanyl, which is equivalent to over 7,800 lethal doses. The operations, which occurred in East Baton Rouge Parish, also netted quantities of crystal methamphetamine, crack cocaine, and eight illegal firearms, signaling a significant crackdown on drug-related violence in the area.
The investigations, led by the Sheriff’s Office Gang Intelligence and Enforcement Unit, resulted in eight arrests, including that of alleged distributor Malchai Tillman Jr., who faces multiple charges for drug distribution and weapon possession. Sheriff Sid Gautreaux emphasized the importance of these operations, stating that they help prevent potential overdoses and violent crimes in the community, highlighting ongoing collaborative efforts with local, state, and federal partners.
