This initiative is part of Everytown’s Be SMART campaign, which emphasizes secure gun storage to prevent child-related gun fatalities, reinforcing the message that “Secure gun storage saves kids’ lives.”
The event’s timing is poignant, coming shortly after a heartbreaking school shooting at Annunciation Catholic School in Minnesota. Additionally, Baltimore has recently achieved a legal victory against Hanover Armory, the state’s largest ghost gun dealer, with a jury ordering the company to pay $62 million in damages for allegedly flooding the city with illegal firearms linked to violence and youth crimes.
