Authorities have apprehended three suspects involved in a fatal shooting in Compton that left 46-year-old Aaron Hammer dead last week. The shooting occurred on August 27, and following an extensive police pursuit on the Artesia Freeway, the suspects attempted to evade capture by fleeing into a residential area, where they ultimately abandoned their vehicle.
During the pursuit, the suspects fired at deputies, narrowly missing them, though a patrol vehicle sustained damage from gunfire. The responding Sheriff’s Special Enforcement Bureau successfully detained the suspects early the next morning, recovering three assault rifles from their vehicle. As investigators piece together the details of the incident, authorities are urging anyone with additional information to contact the Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau.
