Thousands of Minnesota students return to school this Tuesday, marking the start of a new academic year while heightened safety remains a priority for families. In the aftermath of the Annunciation Church shooting last week, Minneapolis Chief of Police Brian O’Hara announced the deployment of extra police patrols around schools and places of worship to reassure the community of their safety.
As part of the security measures, over 130 school resource officers have recently completed training in de-escalation and threat assessment.
