Browne’s legal battle stems from his 1991 convictions for willful injury and criminal gang participation, which resulted in a permanent prohibition on firearm possession despite completing his sentence in 1998.
Browne contends that his Second Amendment rights have been infringed upon by this lifetime ban, arguing that his previous felony convictions should not permanently strip him of the right to bear arms, which he desires for activities such as hunting and home defense. However, the district court found no violation of the Second Amendment in the state’s firearm laws, leading to the dismissal of his claims.
