As fall approaches, the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources announces the opening of hunting seasons for more than a dozen game species, starting with archery deer on September 6. Key regulations for the upcoming season include a new extended youth-only modern gun season that now spans nine days from October 11-19, as part of efforts to boost the antlerless deer harvest.
Additionally, updates for the 2025-2026 season include the introduction of a special antlerless deer hunting season on September 27-28 exclusively in Chronic Wasting Disease zones, which now include Henderson, Union, and Webster counties. Hunters are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the new guidelines available in the Kentucky Hunting and Trapping Guide to ensure compliance and enhance their hunting experience.
