In a significant police operation, Itasca County Sheriff’s deputies seize multiple firearms, illegal drugs, and a range of exotic animals during a raid at a residence in Deer River. Executed on August 27, the raid followed a protracted investigation into narcotics and illegal firearms, leading to the arrest of two men aged 39 and 34 from Nowthen and Maple Lake, respectively.
Among the items confiscated were a stolen Glock 45 handgun loaded with over 60 rounds of ammunition, approximately 1.57 grams of methamphetamine, and several dangerous reptiles, including cobras and a green mamba. The animals, which pose a public safety threat, have been secured by the 4X4 Reptile Rescue organization. Sheriff Joe Dasovich emphasized the operation’s focus on community safety, noting that the investigation is still ongoing as authorities continue to address these serious concerns.
