Authorities arrest 18-year-old Mekhi Matthews following a chaotic incident in Johnstown, where he crashed his vehicle into a home and threatened a passenger with a gun. The event unfolded on August 22, when Matthews initially fled the scene but returned with a head injury before brandishing a firearm and attacking the passenger in what officials describe as an aggravated assault.
Following the crash, where a gun discharged, the passenger fled to safety while Matthews abandoned his vehicle, which police later located, showing signs of heavy damage and containing live ammunition. Matthews now faces serious charges, including felony counts for firearm possession and aggravated assault, and is currently held at Cambria County Prison pending a preliminary hearing on September 10.
