Similarly, in Philadelphia, the rate of dismissed gun cases doubled over six years, raising concerns about the effectiveness of the judicial response to gun violence. With nearly 230 gun-related deaths reported in Chicago this year, the trend of leniency towards gun offenders complicates efforts to curb crime, prompting questions about whether legislators are fully addressing the problem.
