Two Barrie jewellery stores, Dia Amore Jewellers and Bill Le Boeuf Jewellers, ramp up security after experiencing violent robberies, most recently on August 18. During this incident, thieves armed with semi-automatic weapons stormed Dia Amore, causing significant damage while staff members, armed only with a bat, bravely confronted them.
In response to the alarming trend of armed thefts, both stores are implementing additional safety measures, including body-armored security personnel and upgraded surveillance systems. According to Noah Amirzada, a manager at Dia Amore, the mall provides no security for vendors, pushing them to take matters into their own hands with proactive deterrents. As crime rates rise, these stores are rethinking how to protect their assets while also ensuring customer safety.
