A jury has convicted 42-year-old Torrel Skinner of first and second-degree robbery following a week-long trial, where he was found guilty of armed robbery at the Downtown Cafe in Kingston, NY. Skinner allegedly threatened the cafe’s staff with a firearm, demanding cash, before fleeing the scene.
In a swift police response, law enforcement identified Skinner thanks to a waitress who recognized him from a previous encounter. He now faces a maximum sentence of 25 years in prison, along with five years of post-release supervision, with his sentencing scheduled for November 14.
