Antone Wayne Bayard, 29, is sentenced to five years in federal prison for a brazen burglary in which he used a stolen truck to smash into The Armory gun store in Grants Pass, Oregon, stealing over 20 firearms on January 24, 2024. During his sentencing, a judge emphasized Bayard’s extensive criminal history, including 11 felony convictions, yet acknowledged his potential for reform given his youth and recent efforts to improve while incarcerated.
In a shocking display captured by store surveillance, Bayard drove a white pickup truck through the front doors of the store, making off with 15 handguns, four rifles, and a silencer, among other items. Law enforcement quickly tracked him down after recognizing his appearance from local CCTV footage, leading to his arrest just days later. The court is also contemplating restitution for damages incurred to The Armory during the incident.
